4-Day Inca Jungle Imperial: The Ultimate Multisport Trek

Experience the Inca Jungle Imperial, the definitive multisport adventure to Machu Picchu operated by TrueAndes. This 4-day itinerary is designed for thrill-seekers who want to engage with the landscape actively.

We combine downhill mountain biking from the high Andes, white-water rafting on the Urubamba River, and trekking through the lush cloud forest on ancient Inca paths. Along the way, you will visit coffee plantations, relax in hot springs, and zip-line through the canopy, culminating in a sunrise visit to the citadel of Machu Picchu.

Adventure Itinerary

Day 1: Biking & Rafting

Drive to Abra Malaga (4,350m). Downhill biking descent to Huamanmarca. Afternoon rafting (Class III/IV). Lodge overnight in Santa Maria.

Day 2: Trekking the Inca Trail

Hike along a section of the original Inca Trail through the high jungle. Visit local coffee farms. Relax in Cocalmayo Hot Springs. Overnight in Santa Teresa.

Day 3: Zipline & Hike

Morning zipline adventure. Hike along the railway tracks from Hidroelectrica to Aguas Calientes, surrounded by waterfalls and vegetation.

Day 4: Machu Picchu

Early bus to the citadel. Guided tour of Machu Picchu. Return train to Ollantaytambo and transfer to Cusco.

What to Bring

Luggage

Transport: Your main luggage can be stored in Cusco. You should bring a medium backpack (30-40L) for the 4 days. We offer luggage transfer between lodges if needed (check availability).

Is the biking section difficult?

It is a 3-4 hour downhill ride on a paved road. It is exhilarating but not technical. You need to be comfortable riding a bike at speed.

Are the hot springs included?

The entrance to Cocalmayo Hot Springs is usually paid locally (approx. 10 soles), but we allow ample time in the itinerary to enjoy them.

Can I skip the rafting?

Yes, rafting is optional. If you choose not to raft, you can relax or take a short walk while the group is on the river.

What is the accommodation like?

We use rustic but comfortable lodges in Santa Maria and Santa Teresa (private rooms with bathrooms available), and a standard hotel in Aguas Calientes.

Do I need hiking boots?

Lightweight hiking boots or sturdy trail running shoes are ideal. Heavy mountaineering boots are not necessary for this tropical route.

Is the Zipline safe?

Yes, we use a certified operator with high safety standards, professional harnesses, and well-maintained cables.
