Is Lares harder than Inca Trail?
The Lares Trek is generally considered moderately challenging. It has fewer stone steps than the Classic Inca Trail, but it reaches higher elevations, so proper acclimatization in Cusco is important
Do we see ruins on the trek?
The Lares Trek focuses primarily on spectacular Andean landscapes, traditional communities, and living Quechua culture. Depending on the itinerary, archaeological sites may be visited along the journey before continuing to Machu Picchu, the archaeological highlight of the tour.
Is it good for kids?
Yes, it is an excellent choice for active families because horses accompany the group for support.
What are the campsites like?
Campsites are located in scenic Andean areas, often near traditional communities. Facilities are basic due to the remote location. Our trekking team provides the camping equipment and services specified in your itinerary to make your stay as comfortable as possible.
Can I buy textiles?
Yes. The Lares region is renowned for its traditional weaving culture. During the journey, you may have opportunities to purchase handmade textiles directly from local artisans. We recommend carrying Peruvian soles in cash for personal purchases.
Is the train included?
Yes. The train journey from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes is included on Day 3, as specified in the itinerary.
