Questions before you go
Clear answers for planning this tour.
What is the difference vs the Luxury Salkantay?
Both programs follow a similar trekking route to Machu Picchu. The Classic Salkantay focuses on a traditional camping experience with quality trekking equipment, while the Luxury Salkantay offers upgraded accommodation and additional comfort and services throughout the journey.
Is sleeping bag included?
A sleeping bag is not included in the base price. It can be rented upon request before departure. You may also bring your own suitable sleeping bag.
Are there showers?
Shower facilities may be available at certain campsites along the route. Availability, water temperature, and any additional fees can vary depending on the campsite.
Do I have to carry my food?
Our support horses carry the camping equipment, food, and your duffel bag up to the weight limit specified for the trek. You only need to carry a small daypack with water, personal essentials, and clothing needed during the day.
Is water provided?
Yes. Safe drinking water is provided for refilling your reusable bottle at designated times during the trek. We recommend bringing sufficient water for the first section of the journey, as instructed during the pre-trek briefing.
Can I charge my phone?
Charging opportunities may be available at some campsites or accommodations, but they are limited and may involve an additional fee. We strongly recommend bringing a fully charged power bank.
