Frequently Asked Questions

How early do I need to book the Inca Trail?

As early as possible! Permits go on sale in October for the following year and sell out months in advance. We recommend 6-8 months prior.

Do I have to carry my own tent?

No. Our team of porters carries the tents, food, and cooking gear. You only carry your daypack (water, camera, snacks).

What sleeping bag do I need?

It gets cold (below freezing). We recommend a 4-season sleeping bag rated to -10°C or -15°C. You can rent one from us.

Are there showers on the trail?

There are cold showers at some campsites, but most trekkers use a bowl of warm water provided by our staff for washing up.

What kind of food do we eat on the trek?

Our chefs perform miracles! Expect hot breakfasts, 3-course lunches, and dinners (soups, main courses like Lomo Saltado, trout, pasta).

Is the train back included?

Yes, the Expedition train from Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo is included, followed by a private bus to your hotel in Cusco.
