This is the magnum opus of Peruvian travel. TrueAndes presents a 22-day comprehensive expedition that leaves no stone unturned. From the Pacific coast to the deepest canyons, the highest navigable lake, the Inca heartland, and the Amazon rainforest.

We have designed this itinerary for travelers who want to truly understand Peru. You will witness the Nazca Lines, hike the Colca Canyon, sail Lake Titicaca, trek the Inca Trail (or alternative), and explore the Amazon. It is a seamless, professionally managed adventure of a lifetime.

Expedition Itinerary Summary

Days 1-4: The Southern Coast

Lima city tour, Ballestas Islands wildlife, Huacachina desert dunes, and a flight over the mysterious Nazca Lines.

Days 5-7: Arequipa & Colca

Explore the “White City” and journey into the Colca Canyon to see Andean Condors. Relax in thermal baths.

Days 8-9: Lake Titicaca

Travel to Puno. Homestay on Amantani Island and visit Uros/Taquile to experience Aymara culture.

Days 10-12: Cusco & Sacred Valley

Travel the Route of the Sun to Cusco. Acclimatize while visiting Sacsayhuamán, Pisac, and Ollantaytambo.

Days 13-16: The Inca Trail

The classic 4-day trek to Machu Picchu (or train option). Camping under the stars and arriving at the Sun Gate.

Day 17: Machu Picchu

Guided tour of the citadel. Return to Cusco.

Days 18-21: The Amazon

Fly to Puerto Maldonado. 3 nights in an eco-lodge exploring the rainforest biodiversity.

Day 22: Departure

Fly back to Lima for your international connection.

Storage: You can leave heavy luggage at our partner hotels or offices while on the Inca Trail or in the Amazon. Pack a smaller duffel for these specific legs.

Pacing: This is a long trip. We have built in some leisure time, but be prepared for early starts and active days.

Is the night bus comfortable?

Yes, we use "Cruz del Sur" VIP service with wide, reclining leather seats and onboard service. It is very safe.

How deep is Colca Canyon?

It is twice as deep as the Grand Canyon! We hike small sections, not to the bottom.

Will I see Condors?

Sighting chances are very high at the "Cruz del Condor" viewpoint in the morning.

Do I need trekking boots?

Comfortable walking shoes are enough, unless you do the Rainbow Mountain add-on (hiking boots recommended).

Is Rainbow Mountain included?

Yes, it is included on Day 12. It is a high-altitude hike (5,000m).

Is this tour good for families?

Yes, but the travel days can be long. Best for families with teenagers or older children.
