Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Welcome to Lima

We meet you at Jorge Chávez Airport and transfer you to your hotel in Miraflores. Enjoy the evening at leisure exploring the gastronomic capital.

Day 2: Into the Amazon

We fly to Puerto Maldonado. A motorized canoe ride takes us to the Eco Amazonia Lodge. Night walk to spot nocturnal wildlife.

Day 3: Deep Jungle Exploration

We explore Lake Apu Victor and Monkey Island. Keep an eye out for caimans, turtles, and diverse bird species.

Day 4: Flight to the Andes

We leave the jungle and fly to Cusco (3,400m). We recommend a light afternoon to acclimatize to the altitude.

Day 5: The Sacred Valley

A full-day private tour of Pisac and Ollantaytambo. We explore ancient terraces and traditional markets.

Day 6: Machu Picchu

The highlight. We take the Vistadome train to Aguas Calientes and enjoy a comprehensive guided tour of the citadel.

Day 7: Rainbow Mountain

An adventure to Vinicunca (5,020m). Witness the incredible multi-colored geological formations.

Day 8: Humantay Lake

A hike to the turquoise lagoon at the base of the Salkantay glacier.

Day 9: Leisure in Cusco

A free day to explore San Blas, museums, or enjoy a coffee in the main square.

Day 10: Farewell

We transfer you to the airport for your flight back to Lima and your international connection.

Travel Information & Policies

Vaccinations:

For the Amazon leg (Puerto Maldonado), we strongly recommend the Yellow Fever vaccination, although it is not strictly checked at the airport. Bring insect repellent with DEET.

Luggage Restrictions:

Domestic flights and the train to Machu Picchu have weight limits (usually 23kg for flights, 5kg for the train carry-on). We can store excess luggage at your hotel in Cusco or our office.

Altitude Warning:

This trip involves high altitude. We suggest consulting your doctor before travel. We provide coca tea and oxygen support if needed.

Large suitcases stay in the secure office in town. You bring a duffel bag for the boat ride.

Is this suitable for kids?

Yes, but the hikes on Day 7 and 8 are tough. We can swap them for easier cultural activities.

Is there electricity in the lodge?

Yes, but limited to specific hours for charging devices. WiFi is usually not available.

Can I skip the hard hikes?

Absolutely. We can replace Rainbow Mountain or Humantay with a city tour or Maras Moray.

Is the train scenic?

Yes, we include the Vistadome train which has panoramic windows for the best views.
