The Journey Begins: Km 82 to the Andean Campsite

Your private journey begins with an early transfer from your hotel in Cusco or the Sacred Valley to Km 82, the traditional starting point of the Classic Inca Trail. After meeting your dedicated trekking team, begin hiking along the Urubamba Valley, surrounded by Andean landscapes and remarkable archaeological sites.

Throughout the day, your private guide sets a comfortable pace while our support team moves ahead to prepare your camp. Upon arrival, relax in your spacious walk-in glamping tent with a real bed and premium bedding. Refresh with a hot shower, enjoy a restorative massage session and finish the evening with a freshly prepared gourmet dinner.

Day 2

Dead Woman’s Pass: The Highest Point of the Inca Trail

After a nourishing breakfast, begin the most demanding and rewarding section of the trek. Ascend gradually through changing Andean ecosystems toward Dead Woman’s Pass at 4,215 m / 13,829 ft, the highest point of the Classic Inca Trail.

Your private guide allows the day to unfold at a personalized pace, with time for rest, hydration and photography. After the descent, arrive at camp where the TrueAndes team welcomes you with refreshments and your comfortable private glamping setup. A hot shower, restorative massage and gourmet dinner provide a well-earned end to this extraordinary day.

Day 3

Ancient Inca Sites & Cloud Forest

Continue through one of the most spectacular sections of the trail, discovering archaeological sites such as Runkurakay, Sayacmarca and Phuyupatamarca while transitioning into the lush Andean cloud forest.

Your guide brings the history and engineering of the Inca civilization to life while the support team takes care of the details behind the scenes. At the designated campsite, settle into your final night on the trail with a hot shower, a restorative massage and a special farewell dinner prepared by your trekking chef.

Day 4

Questions before you go

Clear answers for planning this tour.

Is this a private or group tour?

This is a private luxury experience. Your trek is operated exclusively for you and your travel companions, with your own private guide, chef and porter team.

Do I need to carry my own gear?

You only carry a light daypack with water, camera and layers. A personal porter allowance of up to 10 kg per guest is included, so your clothes and personal belongings are carried for you.

What are the campsites like?

You sleep in spacious walk-in glamping tents with real beds, premium mattresses and high-quality bedding, plus hot showers and an elevated private campsite setup.

What are the toilets like?

The park provides toilets at campsites, and TrueAndes sets up a private portable toilet tent for your exclusive use at lunch spots and camp.

Can I charge my phone?

There is no electricity on the trail, so we recommend bringing a high-capacity power bank. You will be able to recharge on Day 4 after your Machu Picchu visit, during lunch at Belmond Sanctuary Lodge and on board the Hiram Bingham train.

What happens if I get altitude sickness?

Our guides are trained in first aid and carry emergency oxygen. Your private trek is paced to your group so you can adjust safely. We strongly recommend spending at least two days in Cusco or the Sacred Valley before the trek to acclimatize.

What is the Hiram Bingham train?

The Belmond Hiram Bingham is one of the most luxurious trains in the world. After visiting Machu Picchu, you return to Cusco in elegant 1920s-style carriages, with welcome drinks, a gourmet dinner and live music on board.

Is the price per person based on a minimum number of travelers?

Yes. The price of USD 4,350 is per person, based on a minimum of 2 travelers. For solo travelers, please contact us for a personalized quote.

Are Inca Trail permits and Machu Picchu entrance included?

Yes. Your Classic Inca Trail permit and Machu Picchu entrance ticket are included. Permits are limited and tied to each traveler's passport details, so we recommend booking several months in advance, especially for May to September.

How does payment work?

A 50% deposit is required to confirm your booking and secure your Inca Trail permits. The remaining balance is paid in cash in Cusco before the trek begins.

Can I add an extra night at Machu Picchu?

Yes. You can add an optional night at Inkaterra Machu Picchu Pueblo Hotel or Belmond Sanctuary Lodge and return on the Hiram Bingham train the following day. This option has an additional cost. Contact us for a quote.
